The pre-season fitness camp Baroda Cricket Association was called-off after a player’s brother was tested positive for COVID-19.
“As a precautionary measure, we have decided to suspend the off-season training camp,” the BCA secretary Ajit Lele told The Indian Express. “It was a fitness and conditioning camp.”
This is not the first time that a cricketing event or a camp had been cancelled due to the coronvirus outbreak. Earlier, India and South Africa were slated to play a three-match ODI series. The first ODI in Dharamsala was called off due to rain while the remaining two that were scheduled to take place in Lucknow and Kolkata were canceled due to Coronovirus outburst.
It was earlier decided that the two ODIs will be played without spectators but they were eventually called off.
The Australian women’s team tour of South Africa was also canceled earlier. The fifth and final day of the Ranji Trophy 2019/20 final saw no spectators in the stands. Saurashtra etched their name in the record books to lift the trophy for the first time in history after defeating Bengal on Friday at the SCA.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has also decided to postpone the Asia XI vs World XI series.
