The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that the upcoming Asia Cup will be held in Dubai where both India and Pakistan will take part.
Earlier, Pakistan had to host the tournament but the BCCI was not ready to send the players due to security concerns.
“Asia Cup will be held in Dubai and both India and Pakistan will play,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by PTI on Friday.
Due to the on-going political issues, India and Pakistan haven’t played any bilateral series since 2012-13 where the Pakistan cricket team visited India for an ODI series.
But the two nations did lock horns with each other in the ICC World Cup 2019 where India thrashed Pakistan by a big margin.
Ganguly also talked about the women’s team who have qualified for the World T20 semis. Ganguly praised the team and said that they have been playing some fantastic cricket.
While Ganguly praised the women’s team, the former India captain also put weight behind the men’s team and said that they have the ability to bounce back. India are trailing the two-match Test series against New Zealand by 0-1 while suffered a 5-0 defeat in the ODIs as well.
“They have come back before. I’m sure they will bounce back again. There’s still one Test remaining,” Ganguly said.
