The Asia Cup 2020 has officially been canceled. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is now looking for a window in 2021.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had agreed to host the event in UAE as India were not ready to travel to Pakistan but have exchanged hosting rights with Sri Lanka. Pakistan Cricket Board will host the 2022 edition.
“The travel restrictions, country-specific quarantine requirements, fundamental health risks and social distancing mandates have posed as substantial challenges to the holding of the Asia Cup,” ACC said in a statement.
Former India captain and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had earlier said that the Asia Cup 2020 has been canceled. The announcement of this cancelation has come ahead of a scheduled Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting on July 9.
“Asia Cup has been canceled,” Ganguly said.
