Pakistan’s umpire Aleem Dar set a world record for umpiring in most Test matches on Thursday. He overtook West Indies umpire, Steve Buckner. Buckner had the highest number of umpires in 128 Tests. Dar achieved this feat by landing in the Perth Test between Australia and New Zealand. This umpire is his 129th Test.

Played first-class cricket for 10 years in Pakistan before umpiring, he started his international umpiring career in a match played in 2003 between England and Bangladesh in Dhaka.

Dar has officiated in 207 ODIs and is only two matches shy of the record of 209 matches in that format held by Rudi Koertzen of South Africa. Dar has also officiated in 46 T20 internationals.
