Afghanistan wicket-keeper batsman Afsar Zazai escaped a dangerous car accident. The news was shared by former media manager of Afghanistan Cricket Board, M Ibrahim Momand who uploaded a photo that read, “National cricketer wicket-keeper batsman @AfsarZazai_78 survived in a car accident with a minor injuries in his head but his car damaged most. May Allah bless you get well soon bro.”
Afghanistan cricket has been undergoing crisis after the COVID-19 outburst forced the game to come to a halt.
Though, the Afghan players resumed practice last week. Zazai made his debut for Afghanistan in 2013 but wasn’t a permanent name in the XI with Shahzad being the first-choice glovesman.
He only cemented his place in the side after Shahzad was sidelined with fitness concerns. Zazai has played three Tests, 17 ODIs and one T20I match for Afghanistan. His ODI matches also included the six World Cuo 2019 encounters.
In three Tests, he has scored 135 runs at an average of 27 while in ODIs, he has a total of 264 runs from 17 appearances.
In the only T20I that he has played, Zazai scored 9 runs.
