The India-Pakistan rivalry is one of the most thrilling contests in the cricketing world. India though have an edge when it comes to statistics and previosu matches in World Cups. They have won all the matches so far in ODI and World T20 against Pakistan.
The 2019 World Cup match between India and Pakistan too had a similar result. India clinched the win pretty convincingly by 89 runs (D/L method). The cricketers might take the matches between the two countries as “just another game” but this doesn’t really go same with the fans.
India all-rounder Vijay Shankar during an appearance on the Bharat Army’s podcast revealed that a Pakistani fan abused some of the players just a day before they had to play Pakistan in World Cup 2019 fixture while the players were out.
“Few of us players had gone out for coffee one day before the game when a Pakistan fan came up to us and he was literally abusing us,” he recalled.
“We just had to take it. He was abusing us and recording everything” Shankar added.
India batted first in the match and rode on Rohit Sharma’s 140 and Virat Kohli’s 77 to post 336/5 in a rain-hit match.
Pakistan on the other side never looked comfortable and were restricted to 212/6 after overs reduced to 40 (D/L method).
