Royal Challengers Bangalore and India captain Virat Kohli has admitted that the franchise side is under the pressure of winning the title in the Indian Premier League. RCB has reached the IPL final thrice but failed to lift the trophy.
Despite having a star-studded line up for many years, the RCB team has been a failure when it comes to the ultimate glory. To add to this, a number of memes went viral on social media after the IPL was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak of RCb not winning the trophy. Even their former co-owner Vijay Mallya took a dig at the side and tweeted, “Great…but win the trophy!” on a promotional campaign relating to their new logo.
Kohli while talking to former England batsman Kevin Pietersen said, “You go after something so badly, and it keeps running away from you,” relating to lift the trophy.
The right-handed batsman scored 973 runs in the 2016 edition including four tons but the side lost the final to Sunrisers Hyderabad. The first time they reached the final was back in the second edition of the IPL where they lost to Deccan Chargers while were defeated by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2011.
The IPL was earlier postponed till April 14 after the COVID-19 outburst but it might get canceled or further postponed as far as the current situation is concerned.
The country has been locked down till April 15 and the lockdown is expected to extend with the rise in number of cases.
