The newly recruit of CSK for IPL 2020, Piyush Chawla said that MS Dhoni did not look rusty during the training camp that was held. Due to coronavirus pandemic, the 13th edition of the IPL was postponed.
Former Indian captain has not played since the 2019 World Cup Semi-finals exit to New Zealand. Everyone was looking towards MS Dhoni playing in the 2020 edition. CSK is the most successful side in IPL history reaching the playoffs stage in every edition of the prestigious tournament.
“Honestly speaking, when a guy comes after a break, he is usually rusty. Mahi Bhai must have done something in Ranchi. Even after such a long gap, he did not look rusty at all. He used to hit 5-6 balls in the CSK batting sessions and then used to put on a show of big shots.” Chawla said to Akash Chopra on the former Indian batsman’s official Youtube Channel.
“During the Chennai Super Kings training session, there were limited people in the camp with many of them being bowlers. Every batsman Raina, Rayudu, Mahi were playing for 2-2.5 hours at a stretch, they must have been playing 200-250 balls per batsman”.
The 13th edition of the IPL depends upon the cancellation of the ICC World T20 to be played in Australia during October- November this year. With the coronavirus pandemic situation, it is likely that World T20 would be postponed or cancelled.
According to reports, the Indian Premier League could be held in Sri Lanka or UAE due to surge in cases in India. If this happens, then the crowds will be eager to watch MS Dhoni bat at his prime and gave the fans to cheer with his bat and while wicketkeeping.
Under his captaincy, CSK has won 3 IPL titles including 2 back to back titles in 2010 and 2011. After a gap of 2-year suspension, MS Dhoni-led side won its 3rd title in 2018.
