Former India captain MS Dhoni is known for making pretty good decisions when it comes to picking up players for the side he is leading. Be it the decision of making Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan open the innings for India or backing Virat Kohli when he wasn’t in form, Dhoni has been spot on with his decision.
Former BCCI president N Srinivasan shared a moment of Dhoni’s decision when he refused to select “one outstanding player” in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team.
“There was one outstanding player that we suggested to MS, he said: ‘no sir, he will spoil the team’. The cohesion within the team is important and see in America, franchise-based sport has been there for such a long time,” Srinivasan said at the webinar organised by the Great Lakes Institute of Management according to ESPNcricinfo.
Dhoni has been pretty successful as the skipper of the CSK team. The franchise has won the IPL thrice despite being banned for a couple of years.
The former Indian captain has not played since the 2019 World Cup Semi-finals exit to New Zealand. CSK is the most successful side in IPL history reaching the playoffs stage in every edition of the prestigious tournament.
