The Indian Premier League (IPL) might have been postponed for an indefinite time but the buzz about the cash-rich league isn’t getting less. And to add to this. all-rounder JP Duminy who has played for Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians in the IPL has picked his all-time IPL XI.
Suprisingly, Duminy has ommitted the name of one of the most successful captains in the world and the IPL and it’s MS Dhoni. Dhoni has led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to three title wins, one less than Mumbai Indians while was a part of the Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) when they lost the final back in 2017. to Mumbai Indians.
Duminy’s XI includes Chris Gayle, Adam Gilchrist, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (C), AB de Villiers, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Brett Lee, Muttiah Muralitharan, Lasith Malinga, Imran Tahir.
Gayle has played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab. He holds the record for the highest individual score by a batsman in the IPL. The left-handed batsman smacked 175* against Pune Warriors India to achieve the feat.
Next in the list is Australia’s Adam Gilchrist. Gilchrist led Deccan Chargers to a title win in 2009 and has also played for KXIP. Rohit Sharma is the most successful captain in the IPL so far as he has led MI to four title wins. Apart from this Rohit was also a part of the DC franchise when they won the title in 2009.
India skipper Virat Kohli’s batting performances have been pretty impressive especially in the last 4-5 editions but the RCB side hasn’t won a single tournament so far. Though, they have played the final thrice but suffered losses on every instance.
Former South Africa batsman AB de Villiers too is an integral part of the RCB side. Apart from RCB, he has also donned the DD jersey in the past. Next in the list are West Indies all-rounders Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell. Both Pollard and Russell have produced some riveting performances for their respective franchises.
Pollard plays for MI while Russell is a part of KKR setup. Former Australia fast bowler Brett Lee played for KKR and KXIP. Muttiah Muralitharan too played some good role in CSK’s success in the past.
Lasith Malinga’s performances in T20 format are beyond imagination and he has done something similar for MI. Imran Tahir has been part of CSK and RPS.
