After the exit of VIVO from IPL sponsorship this year, a number of big names have come up for the race. Patanjali and Unacademy were the latest addition after Amazon, Byjus’s, Jio and Coca Cola were in the race. Now Tata Sons will also bid for the sponsorship.
Earlier, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited bids for the title sponsorship for the IPL 2020. The board had earlier asked the Chinese company VIVO to pull out of the sponsorship amid the tension between the two countries at the LAC.
“The Rights are available for the period from August 18, 2020, to December 31, 2020. Details regarding the Rights and product categories in which the Rights are available will be provided only to parties who submit the EOI and are found eligible,” read the IPL statement.
“The turnover of the interested third party must be over INR 300 Crores (Indian Rupees Three Hundred Crores only) as per the last audited accounts,” it added.
With VIVO out of the picture, we would soon see a new title sponsor for the cash-rich league. Amazon is the front-runner as per some reports while Jio, and soft drink giant Coca Cola are also in the race. Byjus who is Team India’s jersey sponsor is also in the consideration.
The board had earlier officially said that the IPL and the Chinese sponsor VIVO are not aligning for this year’s edition. The company was in talks with the BCCI for an “amicable separation” amid rising Sino-India diplomatic tensions.
The BCCI has been facing a lot of heat on social media ever since they have announced Chinese company VIVO to continue as sponsors for the IPL 2020.
