India pacer Deepak Chahar is the one bowler from CSK franchise who has tested positive for COVID-19. Around 13 players including Chahar were tested positive for the disease on Friday but the names were not revealed. The right-arm pacer is in isolation.
Earlier, in the day, former India batsman Suresh Raina has opted out of the IPL 2020 citing personal reasons.
“Suresh Raina has returned to India for personal reasons and will be unavailable for the remainder of the IPL season. Chennai Super Kings offers complete support to Suresh and his family during this time,” the quote was attributed to CSK CEO KS Viswanathan on the team’s Twitter handle.
Raina has been a vital part of the CSK franchise and has contributed consistently for the team.
The development has forced CSK to extend the quarantine period till September 1. The entire squad and staff member of the CSK franchise will now go under fourth COVID-19 test.
The Super Kings, before their arrival in the UAE, had held a five-day training camp in Chennai. MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Deepak Chahar, Ambati Rayudu, Piyush Chawla and Shardul Thakur were all part of the camp, as was bowling coach L Balaji.
