The coronavirus outbreak in the world has put the sporting events at a halt. The Indian Premier League (IPL) is no different. The cash-rich league was scheduled to begin at the end of March in Mumbai where Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings would have taken each other on in the clash.
But the COVID-19 outburst initially postponed it till April 14 and then for an indefinite time. But if the reports are to be believed, the IPL could begin from September 26.
“It (IPL) will be between September-end and November-start, more specifically it could be from September 26 to November 8. These dates are subject to the expected postponement/cancellation of the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia,” a report in Mumbai Mirror read.
The cricketing events around the globe were either canceled or postponed but slowly the things are getting back on track. While West Indies have already reached England for a Test series, World T20 is still under consideration.
Though, India earlier canceled their tours to Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
MI has been the most sucessful IPL team winning the tournament four times while CSK are the next with three title to their name. Kolkata Knight Riders have lifted it twice while Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Deccan Chargers have won it once.
