India’s batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the ODI and T20 series played on the New Zealand round due to a shoulder injury. The All India Senior Selection Committee on Tuesday recalled Sanju Samson in the T20 in place of Dhawan. At the same time, young batsman Prithvi Shaw has been given a chance in the ODI team. The BCCI issued a statement and informed about this.
Samson was dropped after the series against Sri Lanka but he has been able to return to the team once again on the tour of New Zealand. At the same time, Shaw has come in the ODI team for the first time. Shaw was a part of the Test team but he was hurt during the Australia tour due to which he was out and then he was also out due to doping.
Dhawan also returned from injury and returned to Sri Lanka and Australia series. In the last ODI played against Australia in Bengaluru, he was injured again, so he has left the team.
India has to play a five-match T20 series in New Zealand, which starts on January 24. After this, the three-match ODI series will be played.
