India won the historic Test match at Lord’s by 151 runs. Despite this, bad news has come to the fore for captain Virat Kohli. Kohli’s performance was not very special in both the Test matches played. Captain Kohli did not manage to score big in both the Test matches at Nottingham and Lord’s. He could only score 42 runs in the first innings played in the Lord’s Test match and 20 runs in the second innings. He had to bear the loss of this failure in the recently released ICC Test Rankings.
Virat Kohli is ranked fifth in the recently released ICC Test Rankings but his Test rating has come down to 776 points. At the same time, Rohit Sharma, popularly known as Hitman, has come to the best Test ranking of his career. He is only 3 rating points behind Virat Kohli.
In the ICC Test Rankings, Rohit Sharma is at the sixth position after Virat Kohli with 773 points. If Virat Kohli’s performance in the third Test at Leeds is as disappointing as the Nottingham and Lord’s Test matches and Rohit Sharma manages to score 50 plus, then there will be a big change in the ICC Test Rankings and this will be the first time in history. Rohit Sharma will likely overtake Virat Kohli in the ICC Test rankings.
