Former West Indies cricketer Micahel Holding delivered a strong message about how the mind set needs to be changed all around the world to deal with the problem of racism. Holding who was speaking prior to the start of the first Test between England and West Indies said, “Until we educate the entire human race, this thing will not stop.”
The movement “Black Lives Matter” has made headlines since the brutal death of George Floyd an African American was killed by a white policeman in what is being seen as a racial hatred act.
Earlier, all-rounder Darren Sammy too was vocal about the incident. Sammy wrote a series of heartfelt posts about the suffering of Blacks all over the world. He said “right now the cricketing world is not standing against the injustice against people of colour.”
Sammy pointed out that Racism is not limited to America, but blacks all over the world have to deal with this social evil on a regular basis.
He even urged the ICC to race their voice against racism.
Sammy also criticsed the players from his Sunrisers Hyderabad setup who called in him “Kaalu”. The right-handed batsman revealed that he got to know the meaning of the word later on and was pretty upset about it.
