Rain once again played a spoilsport in Southampton after the first day of the second Test between England and Pakistan was a bit curtailed. After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to bat first.

Opener Shan Masood who struck a fine hundred in the previous game was trapped in front of the stumps by James Anderson. But Abid Ali and captain Azhar Ali steadied the ship for the visiting team and scored 72 before the captain was out for 20.

The wickets then started begn to stumble and Pakistan were reduced to 126/5 before the match was halted by rain and eventually stumps were called.

Fawad Alam who made a comeback in the XI after almost 11 years stayed at the crease for just four deliveries and didn’t open his account.

for England, Anderson scalped two wickets while Stuart Broad, Sam Curran and Chris Woakes picked up a wicket each. England lead the three-match series 1-0.
