Lost the toss, a forced change in playing XI and tinkered opening combination, India have had it all before beginning their big match against Pakistan in Manchester in the World Cup 2019.

Opening the batting for India, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma were off to a flying start as the two completed a 100-run stand. Rahul though was dismissed for 57 but that didn’t really interrupt Sharma’s scoring rate as the right-hander went on to hit his 24th ODI ton.

Pakistan did get some chances early on as the two batsmen had a shaky start especially Sharma who looked uncomfortable against Mohammad Amir in the beginning overs. He got the inside edge and was given a couple of lifelines courtesy, some sloppy work in the field by Pakistan.

The Sarfaraz Ahmed-led side had been dismal in the field. They have been dropping catches regularly and have also missed out on some run out chances.

Well you can’t totally blame the fielding for Rohit’s knock because it was Pakistan’s bowling that also played a crucial role. The seamers failed to put any pressure despite an under-confident start from the two openers.

Rohit eventually scored 140 off 113 including 14 fours and three sixes.
