Former South African wicketkeeper-batsman Mark Boucher has been appointed as the head coach of the South Africa cricket team. The management has entrusted the former veteran with great responsibility to salvage the team going through a bad phase. Boucher will remain the coach of the South African cricket team till 2023.

Former South African wicketkeeper-batsman Mark Boucher has been appointed as the head coach of the South Africa cricket team. The management has entrusted the former veteran with great responsibility to salvage the team going through a bad phase. Boucher will remain the coach of the South African cricket team till 2023. The South African team will play the upcoming four Tests, three ODIs and three T20 matches with England. The series begins with a Boxing Day Test on December 25 at the Supersport Park in Centurion.
Mark Boucher as a wicketkeeper holds the record for most dismissals of the batsmen in Test cricket. He has taken a total of 555 wickets in this five-day format of cricket with 532 catches behind the wicket and 23 stumpings. Not only this, in his international cricketing career, he has taken 998 victims in 467 matches which include 952 catches and 46 stumpings.
Mark Boucher had to leave cricket suddenly due to an eye injury during the match, having played his last ODI against Australia on 28 October 2011. Before retirement, Boucher has scored 5515 runs in 147 Tests at an average of 30.30, 4686 runs at an average of 28.57 in 295 ODIs and 268 runs at an average of 17.86 in 25 international T20 matches.
