The Caribbean Premier League 2020 is set to begin from August 18 when Trinbago Knight Riders take on Guyana Amazon Warriors in Trinidad. Here’s the schedule, timings, fixtures and venue of the tournament.
During this time 33 matches will be played in 2 grounds of Trinidad and Tobago. Tarouba-based Brian Lara Cricket Academy will host 23 matches which include the semi-finals and the final. Simultaneously, another 10 matches will be played at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
CPL’s first match will be played by last year’s runner-up team Guyana Amazon Warriors and will face Trinbago Knight Riders. The second match will play against last year’s winning team Barbados Tridents St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The tournament will take place behind closed doors in a bio-safe environment with stringent arrangements for the safety of those involved in the tournament so that the COVID does not spread to 19 people.
CPL CEO Damien O’Donohoe is excited about the upcoming season. This year, he said, there will be a different CPL, but standards will be higher than ever. We have seen a hunger for live sports as it is returning after a prolonged absence and interest in CPL will be higher than before.
