India breached the fortress at Gabba after winning the fourth and final Test against Australia on Tuesday. Chasing a target of 328 runs in the second innings, India rode on some fine batting from the youngsters Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant.
While Gill missed out on a well-deserved ton by 9 runs, Pant remained unbeaten at 89 during the course.
Cheteshwar Pujara also played a crucial role and scored a half-century while Washington Sundar’s cameo provided the resistance that India needed after few hiccups in the middle.
The series was levelled at 1-1 when the two sides met each other in Brisbane. India were without their prime players who had been ruled out due to injuries. This is the second instance on the trot when India have lifted the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
