Australia began the proceedings against India in the perfect manner after beating The Men in Blue by 66 runs in Sydney.

Batting first, Australia hammered the Indian bowlers all around the park. Captain Aaron Finch smacked a ton while Steve Smith too chipped in with a century. Australia began the innings well after Finch and David Warner put 156 for the first wicket.

Glenn Maxwell too scored a quick-fire 45 off 19 as the hosts posted 374/6 in 50 overs.

In reply, India lost wickets at regular intervals before Hardik Pandya and Shikhar Dhawan put 128 for the fifth wicket. But their efforts went in vain as India were restricted to 308/8. Pandya top-scored with 90 while Adam Zampa scalped a four-for.

Josh Hazlewood picked up three wickets in the process.
